Frequently Asked Questions

What is a heat pump?

A heat pump is a machine that by reversing it's refrigeration cycle can provide heating instead of cooling. Because a heat pump uses a refrigerant it can upgrade the heat in air at even -15ºC to a usable heat source to heat buildings. Difficult to understand perhaps but imagine a domestic fridge or freezer, reverse its cycle, and the radiator on the back will be very cold whilst inside will be very hot. A heat pump unit actually captures heat from the outside air even on the coldest winters day. This results in very low running costs compare with conventional electrical heating.

How long does it take to install?

In most circumstances, the unit takes only a few hours to install, with minimum
disruption.

What if I buy the unit and then decide I don't want to install it myself?

Clients can arrange installation via our network of approved installers - please call our sales department on 0845 612 0306 for a quotation

What is Climate Control?

Climate control is just another name for an air conditioning system which is capable of both heating and cooling with automatic thermostatic control - such as the Olimpia Splendid units.

Do the units make a lot of noise?

The units are exceptionally quiet and ideal if you want climate control in your bedroom
for example. An ultra low noise night time setting can be switched on using the remote controller.

Are the units reliable?

Yes - the units come with a 12 month return to base warranty as standard and are produced in their thousands for the world air conditioning market. However clients can take comfort from the fact that we maintain a full inventory of spares and in the unlikely event of failure, are able to repair and service your unit for many years to come,

I have an older Unico or Digtemp unit with 162mm size holes - will the new unit fit the holes?

Yes - the units come ready to work with 162mm holes as per the older style units using the original tubes.

Do the units need any maintenance?

The units have been designed to reduce operations or routine maintenance to a minimum and ensure that they can be performed easily by any user. The basic maintenance consists of cleaning the filter which can easily be accessed. Maintenance instructions are contained in the installation and operating instructions provided with the unit. A self diagnostic facility with illuminated LED's is also a feature of the unit.

What about self install split systems?

There are many companies selling cheap imported self install split type systems via the internet - some sell for as little as £300. These are usually Chinese manufactured with pre pressurised self fit interconnecting refrigerant copper pipes and wiring. As professional installers of split systems for our parent company Celsius Air Conditioning - we know that the average DIY installer may have the following problems with self install split sytems:

The Olimpia Splendid is a far superior product in terms of ease of installation, quality and performance.

It is a commonly held belief within the industry that Self Install Split Systems will shortly be outlawed under the forthcoming European F-Gas Regulations.
